Languages are constantly evolving; the English spoken by Shakespeare 500 years ago sounds very different from how we speak today, and the first languages of our ancestors 1 million years ago were probably very different indeed! Primary 7 enjoyed learning about the scientific study of language evolution through a series of fun activities and games. They explored how languages evolve as we learn and use them in our everyday lives. Kenny from Edinburgh University was impressed by how we engaged in the lesson and said he’d never met a class that shared so much or asked so many questions!
