The highlight of this week in P5A was baking a Victoria Sponge cake as part of our topic work and for Numeracy and Maths week. We worked in groups and used our measuring skills to weigh the ingredients. Once we had finished the mixture we put the tins in the nursery oven and the kind ladies baked them for us. Once it was cool we added the jam and sugar, and then were able to taste our final product. We shared out the leftover cake among the teachers and nursery staff. Yesterday, we wrote out our recipe after reading some cook books to find out the different features of a recipe.
Earlier in the week we played with some Victorian-style toys that Miss Griffith’s cousins lent us. This included a hobby horse, china tea sets, marbles, a train set and wooden toys. The girls really enjoyed played with the peg dolls and paper dolls too.
In numeracy we have been learning more about fractions (which aren’t as scary as they seem!) and putting numbers into sequences.
We enjoyed our open morning where we showed our visiting parents some of the games that we play during numeracy. We assume that the children who are at the rugby festival had a brilliant time too!
