King's Park Primary School

Another busy week in P5A!

In literacy we have been learning about collective nouns which are names for groups of nouns. Some of our favourites were ‘a blessing of unicorns’, ‘a hole of doughnuts’ a ‘caravan of camels’ and a ‘giggle of girls’.

In writing we wrote a short imaginary story about what would have happened if we had been snowed in to school during ‘The Beast from the East’. We enjoyed using wow words to describe the snow. We practised forming our double l’s s’s and f’s during our handwriting.

Our focus in numeracy this week was fractions. The Pascal group worked on improper fractions and mixed number. These are where you have a whole number and a fraction together like 3½. The other groups did lots of fractions worksheets to improve their knowledge of fractions of shapes.

Yesterday afternoon we started rehearsing for our Easter Assembly. We started to learn the songs and a mime. We have also been busy working on some paper craft which Vilara has taught us.

See you next week for Parents’ Evening!
