Nursery Learning.

Wishing all our children and families a very warm welcome back to nursery.

We have already had a lot of excitement in nursery because we have a giant among us!  Looking at planning for the next few weeks staff have introduced the story of Jack and The Beanstalk with the children. This is  already  bringing countless opportunities for literacy and numeracy based learning to take place . This morning the children arrived to find the giant had been wandering around our nursery and had left his giant footprints behind! The children were engaged in talking about size and differences, measurement and counting. Investigations all around nursery with magnifying glasses to see if we could detect where he had been by discovering footprints was great fun. We will be basing learning around the story of Jack for a while and see where they children lead with this. Please read our floor books to see their ideas and hear the children’s voice in their learning within the books.

We have had a lovely first week back with the children. Nursery has been a very exciting place with a few new faces and new routines. The children who are now attending full time have had a lovely week and enjoyed chatting with each other and staff at the lunch able each day. It has been a long week for them but they have been brilliant and settled into things really well.

There have been many new friendships forming with the children and lots of talking and expression in the expressive area of nursery.

We are of course making full use of the last of the sunshine and the children have spent many hours in the garden. We have harvested our carrots and will decide what we would like to do with them next week. There have been a few weeding and watering jobs to do in the garden  and still more to happen in the next month or so to prepare the garden for Autumn. We will be planning with the children to see what they would like to plant next and of course this will take some research as we need to know what grows at what time of the year. Were all learning together. If anyone has any gardening skills they would like to share that would be brilliant!

Carrot Harvesting!

In nursery there are new staff faces too, we have welcomed Mrs Igoe who will work with Mrs Rao with the red group. We are also delighted to welcome a new MA to the team Miss Harker , who will work with Mrs Tierney with the blue group.

We look forward to welcoming more new children in the following weeks.
