Children’s learning

The children have been busy in the garden this week, tidying and preparing it for the better weather. There was lots of sweeping, pulling, digging and picking. While in the garden some of the children  observed  that there is bulbs peeking through, as they helped to pull out the weeds. Next week we plan to plant some different types of vegetable seeds in the garden along with some flowers. Lets hope the weather is better than this week!

Our Eco committee have been thinking of some great ideas  what we could do for recycling this week. The children have been doing a great job bringing in their recycling for the arts and crafts area so far. We have decided to have an Easter bonnet/hat competition where the children can make their own Easter bonnet/hat at home using recycled boxes, bottles, packaging etc. Children will be able to bring their bonnets/hats to nursery on the last week of term before the Easter holidays.( w/c 29.3.20)

Last week was the launch of the Adventure Teds. Adventure Ted is our new bear and book reading initiative. Each week your child will get the opportunity to take their own groups Adventure Ted. At the end of the session your child will be able to take Adventure Ted through to our new lending library where they can choose a book to put in Adventure Teds bag. Each bear has their own blanket, toothbrush and diary. parent’s can fill the diary out at the end of the week and reflect with their child what adventures they got up to, we would love it if you can add photos too. Adventure Ted loves a story so be sure to read to him everyday with your child.

You may have noticed we have a lot of new faces in the nursery. We have three new modern apprentices who have been with us since our return from the February break.  Miss Pye who is working within the green group, Mrs Mehilli who will be working within the orange group and Miss Maracineanu (Miss M) will be working alongside the blue group. Mrs Stark who will be working a Monday and Tuesday in the yellow group, Mrs Stark is fully qualified CCDW. You can see our new staff photo board in the nursery foyer.

Last week we had a competition running for world book week, where parents could take a photo of their children with their favorite book over there face. we are happy to announce that George from the blue group won this and was awarded  with a  voucher to spend on more books. Well done George!!
