Dear Parents and Carers,
This week we have received news from a newspaper company that a new shopping centre has been proposed to be built behind Kingsville school in our village! In class we have had a debate on the pros and cons of such a building and most people have decided for several reasons that it shouldn’t be built. Some of these reasons include: the food court and other shops could shut down our restaurant and small businesses on the outskirts of Kingsville, it could cause major traffic congestion on the roads and also this could lead to accidents and risk villagers safety.
On Tuesday we started our new novel called the Reptile Room by Lemony Snicket. So far we have met the Baudeleire’s new guardian Uncle Monty and his collection of reptiles. Unfortunately, Count Olaf has reappeared in disguise as Uncle Monty’s assistant. Due to this book being about reptiles, Mr Cross challenged us to create our own reptile that could live in the Reptile Room. We had to be very creative as not all of Uncle Monty’s creatures exist in real life.
On Wednesday we continued Primary 5’s skiing adventure at Hillend. This week two groups got to use the chairlift. This was good fun until it got stuck! We thought we’d have to jump off but luckily it started moving again! One group went right to the top and practiced sidestep skiing. Another group was developing their skills with jump turns and pole plants (which sounds awfully hard!). Our final group used the tow and then practiced the pizza shape to help us slow down!
Next week we will be performing our sports day relays and would be really glad if you could join us at 10:00am on Monday. Thank you and enjoy your weekend!
