Dear Parents and Carers
This week we have been working very hard on our first week back in 2018! We started our wonderful week talking about our favourite holiday memories. We hope you had a restful holiday and are ready for the New Year.
We have been reading a series of short stories by Roald Dahl and this week we read “The Boy Who Talked With Animals” which is about a boy who communicates with animals. At the end of the book the boy sails off with a previously captured turtle and is never seen again. We chatted about the book and gave it a rating out five and gave our reasons. Calum liked how the book was written in the first person and also liked how it was a happy ending but would have changed the title to “The Turtle Whisperer.”
This week we have been learning about New Year’s Resolutions which are when you set a goal at the start of the year to improve our lives. We made New Year Resolution stars and we are going to display them in class and see if we can to stick to them. One of the most common resolutions set in Scotland this year was to lose weight. Our targets in P5 include healthier eating, improving our dance skills and being kinder to our siblings! What is your 2018 New Year’s Resolution?
For our art this week we have been making a seasons calendar. There is a tree in the middle and in all four corners there are different seasons. We have been making this with oil pastels and have been working on delicate touch with our materials.
Next week we are starting a block of rugby which we are looking forward to. Make sure you have your PE kit ready!
