P5a say farewell to Isaac

At skiing this week, we got ready much quicker and had lots more time on the slopes. The beginners managed to keep 2 skis on their feet and mastered balancing. They began to work on the snow plough. The advanced group went to the top and skied down the face, and worked on their hockey stops and pole planting. We felt much more positive and excited on our return, however we were all exhausted!

We received a new letter from New Village Builds asking us to create some rules for Queensville. We discussed issues such as noise levels, guns, vandalism and cycling codes. A second letter arrived on Thursday asking us to find out more about smoking and alcohol to educate our villagers. We will look at this in more detail next week.

Our numeracy focus this week was maps. We looked at different types of maps such as altas, road maps and terrain maps and revised coordinates. We then used a map of Edinburgh and its code to create our own O.S map of Queensville.

Sadly, today is Isaac’s last day in P5A before he goes home to Minnesota. We have really enjoyed having him in our class. Isaac won’t miss the daily mile and is excited to see his friends at home, but is sad to leave everyone here.
