Get Connected!

P7a were delighted to welcome neuroscientists from Edinburgh University to our school.  The Get Connected! workshop helped us to learn about nerve connections in the brain. It took us from chemical communication between brain nerve cells to the pruning back of connections that takes place as you mature from a child into an adult.  It was a practical and active session, which really helped us to understand some really tricky concepts.  We had been working hard before the workshop to learn about the brain and think Antonis and his colleague were quite impressed with how we answered their questions.

Prior to the workshop, we had a homework task to produce a model of a neurone.  We were challenged to be as creative as we could be.  We’re sure you’ll agree that we met that challenge!

Antonis and his colleague selected three of our neurones as winning entries.

An Egg-cellent Fry-day for Primary 7!

Today, Primary 7 were challenged to create a ‘travel system’ that would keep an egg safe when it is dropped from a high height.  Miss McKay and Mr Dougal were very impressed with our designs and the egg-ceptional collaboration skills we displayed during the task!
