P2c learn about Robert Burns, Scottish songs and activities

We have learned that Robert Burns was born in Alloway in Ayr and is famous all over the world for his poems and writing. We learned he lived in a cottage and helped his family on the farm. We listened to the poems ‘To a Mouse’, ‘Address To A Haggis’, ‘The Selkirk Grace’ and we sang and clapped to ‘Auld Lang Syne’. Some of us had haggis, neeps and tatties in school or at home this week.

We learned the songs ‘Katie Beardie’, ‘Three Craws’ and ‘Ye Cannae Shove Yer Grannie Aff a Bus’. We did some Scottish dancing. We designed our own tartan kilt for our Katie Beardie dancer and made purple and blue thistles with paint and collage. Mrs Reid did drama activities with us. We had to use our imagination to be different shapes and had to work well together to keep a ball up in the air for as long as we could. Can you see what interesting shapes we are?
