This week we were introduced to Mike The Mistake Maker. Mike’s learning quality is that he learns from his mistakes. We made “Beautiful Oops” pictures to help us see that mistakes can be “beautiful.”

“Why is making a mistake a good thing?” – “Because you can learn from it and make it into something better”

In literacy we have been learning the special friend sounds: ai (snail) , oa (boat) and ie (tie).

We worked with our learning partners to read/spell words and to make goats in boats with play-dough.

“If you make the o, I’ll make the a!”

In Numeracy we have been counting the number of jumps between two numbers

We have also been playing games to help us add. We have been continuing to practise 5 +1, 5 +2… using both our hands.

In addition to this we have been learning our number bonds to 10. E.g. 7+3, 4+6, 8+2…

We love our play this week! In line with our People Who Help Us topic we have been using our imagination to make Lego models and to role play firefighters.
