King's Park Primary School

This week in nursery

Upcoming dates

P1 Enrolment

Last week (w/B 5th Nov) you should have received a letter from Midlothian Council with information regarding enrolling your child at their indicated catchment school.  This week (w/b 12th Nov), if your catchment is Kings park, you will receive information about the enrolment process. During the w/b 19th Nov, you can enroll you child at the school office. You will need your child’s application form, birth certificate and proof of address.

Forest School session will start the week commencing 19th November.

We are absolutely delighted to say we will be taking the children to the forest for outdoor learning sessions on a daily basis. Going forward we will take the children in alternate weeks so one week will be morning children and the following week we will take the afternoon children. Please watch out for group lists going up in nursery next week. We would also like to say a huge thank you to the school PTA who have been able to source new waterproof jackets for the children so we now have enough for the whole group going out. We are also very happy to say they will also be purchasing a back pack for each child and we have bought waterproof trousers for the group. We will be fully kitted out and I am sure you will join us in our heartfelt thanks to the PTA.

Nursery Funds

This is a donation and if you are able to we ask please could you hand this in at yours earliest convenience to enable us to purchase healthy snacks for the children as well as additional resources.  Information about the recommended amount can be found on the information board within the nursery. Please ask a member of staff if you require additional information.

*Glue modeling resources- Urgent**

We are running very low on glue modeling resources so if you have any recycling items that we could use, please hand them into the nursery.  Items include yogurts pots, boxes, plastic fruit containers, tubes (no toilet roll tubes), plastic egg boxes (no cardboard ones) and plastic bottles. Please note, we cannot accept food packaging that has contained nuts, e.g fruit and nut cereal boxes due to an allergy within the nursery.

Tissues

As it is getting colder and lots of runny noses, donations of boxes of tissues would be greatly appreciated.

Toys from home

Toys from home are getting lost or broken and the children are getting upset when this is happening, so could we please ask that you not allow your children to bring them to nursery.

Parent helpers

We welcome parents’ to come in and help in the nursery.  This could be on a regular basis, part of a session or a one off.  There is a calendar located on the information board, so if you would like to help please add you name to this. Thanks for your continued support, if you have any questions please let us know.

Clothing

As part of the nursery day we have to offer the children a full range of experiences, inside and out, the children will therefore be able to access the garden in all weathers. Please can you ensure your child has a change of clothes with them every day, a waterproof jacket and wellies. We do have a small stock of waterproof trousers and a couple of pairs of wellies, but if you could provide your child with their own, that would be great.

Family Photo’s

Please could you hand in a family photo (including pets) to go up on our family tree? The children have been busy drawing pictures of their families within mark making.

Phone calls Home

It is the school policy, when a child has an injury to their face or head regardless of the severity; we are required to make a phone call home. This will also be recorded on an accident or incident form at nursery which you will be asked to sign.  If you have any questions regarding this please speak to a member of staff.
