The afternoon children have enjoyed time in the forest this week. As the seasonal changes in the forest take place, the children are noticing that there are “No leaves on the trees, the berries have all gone?” “The birds have nothing to eat!” We chatted about what the children could do to help the birds . The children said that they could leave bird seed for them, one child said “We could take them to the new Mc Donalds at Tesco!”. So we have taken bird seed in the woods. We have a Robin Redbreast who is a very curious little fellow when the children are in the woods and has been edging closer and closer each day until finally coming close enough to feed on the wild bird seed. The children were enthralled.
Some of the children have also seen the resident rabbit who live in the woods this, so week we decided to take him some carrots.
The children have been making twig stars and shapes to hang in the trees and threading different brightly coloured leaves onto the trees to make it Christmas. Learning about shapes, sizes, angles and position.
Although the mud hill has been climbed several times, the children’s focus has been spending a quieter time observing nature around them this week. Relationships continue to grow and develop supporting and nurturing each other.
Next week is the turn of the Morning group please check the board in nursery for your children group visit.
