Children’s Learning

Forest Kindergarten continues to be a huge success. This week we moved to a different part of the woods, explaining to the children that we must allow the plants and woodland to recover each time we visit. Making sure the children understand sustainability in our environment.

The children continue to develop new relationships with each other that they maybe would not have had within the nursery environment. They encourage each other and help one an other to achieve their goals on a regular basis. This week in the woodland we have experience numeracy , literacy within out exploration. Children have collected woodland items  and discussed length, width, amount and capacity. They have explored nature finding a rabbit hole and signs that the rabbit lives nearby! We have built fairy houses and have collected things  take this back to nursery too.

We have enjoyed story time in the woods and have enjoyed making our own stories .

Learning in nursery has been very much about relationships, about caring for each other and being kind. There has been lots of small world play, children have brought items back from the forest to explore and used them within the nursery.

There has been a lot of measuring and pouring in the water play and messy play in the art area.

The children have enjoyed making bread this week and enjoying it for their snack. IMG_0289

Many children are showing an interest in writing their names and recognizing their name cards.

Children in the woods are mark making with sticks in the mud.
