This week the children have been using their bodies for large motor skills. We have kindly been given several Balance bikes till January for the children to practice with. This week we have been practicing in the big school playground using obstacles. The children have really engaged in this and been very patent with each other allowing turn taking and cheering each other on in encouragement. We have enjoyed working out with the Sticky Kids and using our bodies to travel in different ways.
There has been lots of practice for the nativity performance and the children are learning the songs really well. This has sparked lots of questions from the children, one child asked me this week “ Why did they go on a donkey and not in a taxi to Bethlehem?” So this sparked a conversation about travelling and different modes of transport around the world. We are sorry for beginning this so early! We will perform this on 3/12/19 both morning and afternoon in the school hall in the senior building. Very exciting! Please see “This week in Early Years “ for more details.
The space topic continues to be popular and it’s amazing how much some children know about space and planets.
The children made Banana Muffins, Pizza and homemade bread for snacks this week. The children choose what they want to make and bake and this is great for early science skills sharing and socialising.
We have also begun to talk about the change in the weather now that winter is here , we have discovered frost and ice in the garden and watched how long it takes to melt.
