Children’s Learning

This week has been another busy week for the children. They have enjoyed their next transition day into P1 meeting up with their buddies. A group of children visited the discovery room and created paper versions of themselves wearing their uniform.

Children visiting the forest site had a very muddy time. There had been significant rainfall the night before and during the day. This sadly meant we decided the mud slide was a little too dangerous but this did not deter the children and they made another area into a slide. We also found a wasps nest in the woods and discovered loads of slugs and woodlice.

Children who stayed in nursery with their buddy had a great time getting to know their buddies and showing them around the nursery.

There has been a lot of numeracy in the nursery this week. Measuring when baking, counting  and making symmetrical patters on the floor with large shapes. The block are continues to be one of the most popular area and although gets very messy is very purposeful play. In the felt floor shapes the children have created  rockets and transformers!

We continue to have a good response to the recognition wall and some children are showing lovely acts of kindness and caring to others. There has been offers of help to the staff and to each other. This is a lovely way for the children to develop their well being and understanding of others feelings.
